"Educators contribute to the profession."
Evidence
Something that I love about teaching, is that it surrounds you with a variety of incredibly caring individuals who come from all different backgrounds. Each individual who I have the honour of collaborate with brings their own unique strength to the table, so when a few teachers put all of their strengths together amazing things happen! Throughout my experience in this program I have had the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from many incredible educators within the Nanaimo school district. Working with so many experienced educators and having them respect and use my ideas has made me realize that even us new teachers can bring something new to the table! For this reason, I believe that it is important for me to come up with my own ideas and research and share it with my fellow educators because they might learn something new. This is a picture of myself and my friend Casey, standing beside the project that we presented at ED EXPO in the Parksville school district last year. Teachers and other pre service teachers attended this pro d day where there were a variety of tables set up for small group to share an inquiry that has to do with education. For our inquiry we explored teacher wellness through learning facts and strategies that teachers can use to take care of themselves, so that they are able to be the best teacher they can be while still talking care of themselves. Another way that I contribute to the profession is through sharing my experiences with other pre service teachers. My supervisor set up a meeting for myself and one of my classmates, to share our framework binders with pre service teachers from the year behind us so that they would have an idea of what was expected of them and what their binder might look like.
