"Educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development."
Evidence 1
I believe that in order for students to be able to have the most rich learning environment, that the educator has to get to know their students. By get to know their students, I mean that they have to understand what each of their students needs in order to be interested, engaged, and be the best learners that they can be! Once the educator knows their students, the next step is to create an environment that will enable each student to grow as a learner. My management plan is the first way that I demonstrate this standard. In my management plan I outline the classroom setup, the routines, the expectations, and the management strategies that work best with my students. Writing this plan gave me a deeper insight of how applying my knowledge of each of these different aspects in the classroom, can have a profound impact on the ability for each of my students to grow.
Evidence 2
The second way that I achieve this standard is with this assignment that I did on assessment. Since my final practicum was cancelled due to COVID-19, I completed a three part assessment course to partially make up for it. In this course I learned about the difference between assessment and evaluation, as well as strategies that I could use in my future classroom. As written in this assignment, one of the most important pieces that I learned from this course is that assessment is ongoing throughout the year, and that every student learns at a different pace. Understanding that every student grows and develops at a different pace is so important to remember as an educator because it makes you provide more time for students to learn, which means that there will be extremely rich learning!
